An incomplete Post-Medieval silver penny of Elizabeth I (AD1558-1603). The coin is from the First Issue coinage, minted at the Tower of London. The initial mark is a cross crosslet, dating the coin to AD 1560 - 1561. North (English Hammered Coinage Volume 2 1991) p. 133, 1988.
The coin has a diameter of 14.6mm, a thickness of 0.6mm and weighs 0.4g.
The coin is worn and damaged, and has possibly been clipped prior to the damage occuring.
