A Medieval copper alloy strap end, probably dating to c. AD 1250-1500. The strap end comprises of two tongue-shaped sheets of copper alloy pressed together and riveted in place, with two seperately made copper alloy rivets and the attachment end and a third at the terminal. Below this third rivet is a small, incomplete sub-circular perforation, presumably serving as a point of attachment. The strap end is undecorated.
Dimensions: length 42.8mm; width 17.2mm; thickness 4.3mm; weight 5.6g.
Simple copper alloy sheet strap ends are relatively common medieval finds, see for example those published by Egan & Pritchard (2002: 127-137), especially no. 609, which is of the same general conruction and was found in a context dating to c. AD 1270-1350.
