A fragment of a ceramic handle from a large jar or jug of medieval date, Brandsby-type ware c.AD 1275 - 1400. The handle is circular with a curved profile and is decorated on the upper half with eight parallel longitudinal, shallowly incised grooves.
The fabric is pale grey at the core and off-white towards the edges. The surfaces are glazed with a pale green glaze, with frequent darker copper flecks. The glaze is cracked in places and abraded near the damaged ends.
The vessel sherd is 96.5mm long, 33.2mm in diameter and weighs 133g.
