A corroded and almost complete Roman copper-alloy button-and-loop fastener (AD 100-200). Wild 1970: 137-155.

In plan, the flat head is rectangular, has rounded corners and measures 24.5mm in length, 20mm in width and 2.4mm in thickness. The shank is circular in cross-section with a diameter of 7.1mm and a length of c. 6.3mm. The triangular loop with a triangular opening has a length of c. 26.5mm, a maximum width of 13.0mm and a thickness of 3.1mm. At the front of the head, two circular cells both have a diameter 5.1mm. Each cell has a dot at the centre and each cell appears to have had "lathe" treatment. One cell has a fleck emamel, now coloured red. There is a smaller fleck of decayed enamel in the other cell which is coloured buff.

This fastener is green and corroded overall.

Length: 38.2mm; width: 20.0mm; overall thickness: 15.1mm. Weight: 10.92g.
