Early medieval silver sceatta of series D, type 2c, dating to c. 700 - 715 AD. This group is known as Radiates. The design on the obverse is not easy to see due to wear of the surface but represents a degenerative radiate bust, facing right, with a beaded border at top and bottom and a zig-zag and dot pattern at the top of the coin. The design on the reverse is clearer and portrays a central cross pommee with dots in each of the corners surrounded by a pattern of V and O. This series of coin is Frisian in origin, commonly with runic inscriptions, but was also minted and found in England. The coin has a smooth and shiny patina. Its dimensions are: 11.51mm in diameter and 1.89mm in thickness. The weight of the coin is 1.16g.
