An incomplete copper alloy lace chape or tag, of medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1500).
The chape is made from a single piece of rectangular sectioned metal which has been rolled to form a tapering tube with an overlapped seam, open at both ends. The chape is incomplete and undecorated, there are no attachment holes present.
The chape is 43 mm long, 8 mm in diameter at the top tapering to 6.5 mm at the base, and weighs 8.0 g.
The chape is a mid green colour, with an uneven surface patina.
