Part of a lead token, cloth seal or gaming piece. The piece is broadly circular but the irregular and thinning edges sugegst it may have been part of a larger item. On the front is a raised circle containing what appears to be a crowned quadruped, possibly a lion going left, head facing, S-shaped tail above back, lion passant guardant, A small hole by one of the lions legs appears to be a casting flaw. n the back is a second raised circle echoing that on the front, but containing nothing. The piece is 13.3mm in diameter and weighs 1.42 grams.
Size-wise it could be the central, squashed rivet form a cloth seal althogh there is no sign of the rest of the disc, unless on the irregular edge. The lion passant guardent as a design element is not uncommon but the raised circles, on the front and back are unusual. A broad Medieval - Post Medieval date is therefore suggested
