A copper-alloy Post-Medieval knife end cap or stop, probably dating from the 16th century.
Description: A cylindrical copper-alloy end-cap, decorated with an incised saltire cross in a square line frame on either side with a vertical ridge separating them on each side, and an incised line star (asterisk) on the top. It has an oval cross section. On the underside is the remnant of the iron tang of the missing knife, extending into a rectangular slot evident part way up the sides of the stop. It is patinated a dark brown with green mottling
