A copper alloy single looped buckle of medieval date. The buckle has an oval frame and an integral, forked spacer. The buckle frame is lipped however there is no notch for the pin to rest on. The pin is missing and one fork is incomplete. The object has a mid-green patina and file marks are visible on the rear.
Dimensions: 37mm in length, 25mm in width, 3mm thick, 3.5g.
Similar examples of buckles with composite plates can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p36 which have been dated c.1350-1450.
