Copper alloy buckle. Cast D-shaped single looped buckle frame of D-section with deeply incised diagonal cuts decorating its loop, and with a straight strap bar. A probably cast pin is looped around the strap bar. The cuts appear bright and may mark the site of metal inlay. Suggested date: Medieval, 1100-1250.

Length: 23.1mm, Height: 33.6mm, Thickness: 2.9mm, Weight: 6.42gms.

Notes:

The finder suggests this to be part of an assemblage amounting to c.5% of material recovered from an extensive site, the rest being removed illicitly without record. Archaeological opinion holds the site to have been of equivalent character to Flixborough, North Lincolnshire, in terms of its material culture. Coins are under-represented in the group
