A worn milled silver William III (r.1689-1702) sixpence, possibly bent into an S profile as a keepsake or love token. Dated to 1696 and minted at London, no mintmark.

Obverse: 'GVLIELMVS/[.III.]DEI.GRA.', Laureate and draped bust facing right. Reverse: '96 MAG/BR.FRA/[.ET.H]IB/.REX.[1]6/', Three shields visible within which are one lion rampant, three lions passant and three fleurs-de-lis, the fourth missing shield would likely have contained a harp. The shields are all set around a central circle with the lion of Nassau within, creating a cruciform shape.
