An Early Medieval to early Medieval copper alloy sheet hooked tag, probably dating to c. AD 600-1150. The hooked tag has a simple undecorated triangular plate with an indented upper edge, with a larger, central, semicircular indentation flanked by two smaller. The plate has only a single perforation, in the top left hand corner. The plate tapers into a rearward facing hook, with this being bent forwards by 90 degrees at the juncture between the two, just above a slightly raised collar of three cross-mouldings. The terminal of the hook is lost.

Dimensions: length 21.8mm; width 13.9mm; thickness 0.7mm; weight 0.87g.

Read (2001: 7-14) publishes a number of similar hooked-clasps which he classifies as his Class A, type 1, which he dates to the 7th to early 12th centuries.

Class: Read Class A, Type 1
