A complete Post-Medieval farthing trader's token dating c. 1648-1674, issued for Robert Crannis- a fellmonger or wool-seller of Mildenhall. Williamson no. 247.
Obverse: woolpack within inner solid border, ROBERT CRANNIS
Reverse: initials R C A in triangle within inner border, IN MEILDENHALL
Farthing trade tokens were first issued in 1648 as a response to the lack of small change, with halfpenny tokens following later. They were suppressed in 1674 under Royal Authority.
