An incomplete medieval copper-alloy and gilt harness pendant suspension mount or hanger, dating to c AD1200 - 1400.
The suspension mount consists of a long bar, c.8.78mm wide and c 52.36mm in length, with end bosses, and a pair of pierced loops projecting from the centre to one side only (19.70mm wide here). There are signs of iron corrosion in the two piercings. The bar is D-shaped in cross-section The loops, 5.15mm long, would have held the axis bar for the pendant.
Beyond the end two bosses is a stylized fleur-de-lis terminal with a central piercing c.3.75mm in diameter. Rivets, c 9.20mm in length, are in place.There is a semi circumferential collar moulding inside each of the end bosses.
It weighs 10.37g.
