BUCKLE

Unique ID: NARC648

Object type certainty: Certain

Cast double oval frame which is flat on the reverse and concave on the front giving a shallow oval in section. The central bar has been integrally cast and in square in section. Decoration consists of multiple slightly raised oblique rope work all around the front of the frame with the exception of the central bar which is plain. The pin loop appears to have been a cast and wrought bar which has then been curled over, the shank of the pin is broken, approximately two-thirds of it are missing. There are heavy file marks on the reverse of the frame and central bar.

Notes:

moulded decoration on frame similar to Burr page 22&23 figure 8 lower right, shape and size similar to Whitehead page 53 no.295 but narc 648 is much finer work. Shape and size of pin similar to Egan & Pritchard number 333

Class: Double oval
