An incomplete cast copper-alloy mount dating to the Medieval period, c. 1200-1400. It is rectangular in plan and sub-plano-convex in section, with a slightly rounded upper surface and flat underside. The two long edges of the mount are each decorated with a series of repeating raised grooves, while the rest of the object is completely plain. Two small circular apertures are visible in the object, presumably originally designed to accomodate rivets for fixing the mount to a leather belt or strap. Preserved in fair condition with an even green patina, it measures 8.03mm long, 5.42mm wide at its midpoint, and 0.81mm thick at its midpoint. It weighs 0.16g.
A comparable mount is published by Egan (Egan and Pritchard 1991, p. 196, no. 1047).
