A lead alloy cloth seal of post-medieval date. The object is oval in plan with a projecting tab. The remaining disc is stamped by a crowned fleur-de-lis with the initials I R to each side. The cloth seal was probably issued during the reign of James I (1603-1625). The second half of the cloth seal is missing.

Cloth seals were in use between the 14th and 18th centuries (Egan, G. 1989 'Leaden Seals for Textiles - Some Archaeological Evidence Relating to Fabric and Trade' Costume No. 23).
