An incomplete copper alloy contemporary copy of a Dollar of George III (AD 1760-1820). The coin is Spanish American 8 Reales, pillar type. Reverse depicts a crowned squared shield flanked by pillars with a scroll across both fields.
Reverse ledged: [.HISPAN.ET.IND.REX.NE.]SR.I[.I.]. The obverse has been abraded to the point of illegibility. Sections of the outer flan are missing.
Obverse legend would have read: CAROLUS.IIII./DEI.GRATIA.[.]
Uncertain mint.
This denomination of coin should be silver, however this example is copper alloy indicating it is a core from a plated contemporary copy.
