An incomplete Post-Medieval lead 4-disc cloth seal, dating to c. AD 1550-1800. Three of four discs survive. One disc is depicts a shield with an indented side, quartered by a triple stranded cross with a truncated probable sword in one field, the lower two quarters empty. Around this is the legend (pellet) CIVITA(T) [...](I) . The other disc is stamped by the initials AW, with a possible third below.
Dimensions: length 29.7mm; width 15.5mm; thickness 2.9mm; weight 5.08g.
This seal is most likely a seal of London, with similar seals with triple stranded crosses and swords of St. Paul in the upper left corner illustrated by Egan (1994: 170-172).
