Incomplete cast gilt copper alloy mount with a central rivet hole, but an additional application of lead solder on to the back of the mount with a linear groove suggests that it may have held a pin to attach it to clothing as a secondary use. The upper face has foliate decoration in the form of scroll work borders around a central leaf motif within a bi-lobed body which terminates in a pointed knop. The opposite edge is broken and would have extended into a longer mount with another rivet hole for attachment at the opposite end.

Read (2001) illustrates mounts with similar bifid shapes and foliate decoration on page 41, fig.24, nos.349-350, which are dated from the 16th century.
