An incomplete copper-alloy strap end of medieval date, c. AD 1150 - 1450. The object is a composite strap end comprised of two plates which are sub-rectangular in plan, tapering towards a narrowed terminal with worn trefoil knop. The attachment end is broken and worn and the remains of a forked spacer can be seen within the plates though is obscured by organic remains. Both plates appear undecorated.
The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The strap end is 34.5mm long, 9.3mm wide, 3.2mm thick and weighs 2.6g.
Similar examples are illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (2002), p.133, fig.86.
