A lead vessel repair surrounding a pot sherd fragment, dating to the period AD 43-1500. A broad date has been given due to the undiagnostic nature of this vessel repair, though from what can be seen of the pot sherd it does not appear to be Samian ware. The pot sherd is a light orange to salmon in colour, quite fine with no visible inclusions. It is surrounded entirely by the repair, which seems entirely disproportionate to the fragility of the vessel, and may be why the repair was not successful. The vessel repair is dished slightly, and it is likely that the pot sherd inside curves as the lead does. It is broadly rectangular in shape, measuring c.86mm in length, c.75mm wide, with a thickness of c.17mm, though this does vary as the vessel repair is irregularly shaped. The vessel wall is c.4.70mm thick. In total, this vessel repair weighs 335g.
