An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) silver sceat issued at Ribe, Denmark (c. 675-c. 750). Series X, Type 31 (Abramson 2006: 15 and 74; North 1994: 65, ref: 116).
Obverse: Facing, radiate, Wodan head with chevron beard and possibly a cross pommée either side. Line border with beaded border.
Reverse: Monster in flight right, looking back, gaping jaws biting raised triple-forked tail and clawed feet below. Pellet behind, member barely visible. Line border with beaded border.
Length: 11.2mm; width: 10.6mm. Weight: 0.50g. DA=12:5.
