Unique ID: NLM-6B0C4F

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Grey flint scraper. A fairly thin flake with broad parallel flakes struck from its dorsal side and an originally bulbar ventral surface. The latter appears to have received invasive angled scalar retouch executed from the ventral aspect. A period of exposure to a calcareous environment then left patches of misty patina across all struck surfaces. This was removed by short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect following a straight - and perhaps previously broken - edge. The Neolithic period may accommodate both the primary and secondary uses. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC.

Length: 29.3mm, Width: 28.7mm, Thickness: 6.4mm, Weight: 6.87gms

Evidence of reuse: Interruption of patina by retouch
