Complete copper-alloy post-medieval or modern chape or lace-tag (c. 1600 - 1800 AD) with two copper-alloy rivets. The chape is cylindrical in plan and tapers towards a turned knob at the base. The chape is formed from a rolled copper-alloy sheet with a straight seam faintly visible along the edge. The chape is badly dented and this has resulted in a flattened aspect. There is a copper-alloy rivet positioned central at the wide end of the cylindrical body, and another smaller copper-alloy rivet at the very edge. The hollow interior of the chape is filled with organic material as a result of its deposition. The chape is marked and slightly corroded, the corrosion of the copper-alloy causing green patches on an otherwise smooth brown patina. The chape is 20.68mm in length, 8.73mm in width and 4.31mm in thickness, with a weight of 1.67g.
