An incomplete cast lead pot mend of uncertain date, probably Roman to medieval (AD 43 -1500). It consists of two irregularly shaped 'discs', joined at their centres by a short but wide 'stalk'. The smaller disc is sub-oval in shape with a convex extrenal face; the other is sub-rectangular and flat. A piece of brown-coloured pottery with numerous black-coloured inclusions is visible between the two discs.
The object measures max. 34.5x23.6x13.3 mm and weighs 46.8 g. The individual 'discs' measure 4.7 mm and 3.8 mm in thickness at their edges.
A pot mend or repair was used to fill a break in a ceramic vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred.
