A fragment of a worked stone, possibly from a mortar or of an architectural nature. The stone is in the shape of an isoceles triagle in cross-section. One long edge is smooth and concave and tapers to a thinner end where it breaks. The other long edge is rough with a deep transverse cut forming a thick oval rim at the short end. The body is 29.1mm at its thickest point, and 12.1mm thick at its thinnest point, and the rim is 37.9mm thick. The fabric of the stone is a greyish, white colour.
The stone is 96.6mm in length, 52.1mm wide, 57.3mm maximum thickness, and weighs 330g. A wide date range is usggested, from the Roman to the post-medieval period (AD 43 - 1800).
