Fragmentary post-medieval buckle of the spectacle type. The item is cast copper-alloy, and retains only one loop of an original double looped design. The buckle is 'D' shaped in cross section. There is evidence of moulded knops at either end of the strap bar, just before the point at which the other loop has broken off.
The item has a green/grey patina, and the surface of the buckle is plain and undecorated. Likely date is c. 1500-1650. See Whitehead, pg 54 for comparisons
