Foot and catch plate from an Anglo-Saxon copper alloy small long brooch. The brooch is broken just in front of the catch plate at the point where it rises up to form the bow; this bow bears a small area of decoration with a raised dorsal ridge between sunken panels with two tiny circular indentations near one edge. Just to the rear of the catch plate the upper surface is decorated with two transverse bands each consisting of four raised ridges. Below this the foot of the brooch flares out to a flat, undecorated terminal. The lower surface retains the complete catchplate. The object is in good condition, with a silvery patina suggesting tinning, is 39mm long, 20mm wide, 19mm thick and weighs 5.61g.
