An incomplete cast copper alloy strap end of late early medieval date (AD c. 900 - c. 1100). The object is tongue shaped and is missing the tip and the attachment end. It is decorated in openwork and relief, although both surfaces are heavily worn and the relief decoration is indistinct. There are eight extant perforations and one which appears to be closed by corrosion (possibly the remains of a rivet). There appears to be two larger holes trunctated by the break at the attachment end. The object most closely resembles Thomas class E, Type 2 (Thomas 2004, fig 4)
The object is 37 mm long, 25 mm wide and 2.5 mm thick. It weighs 8.3 g.
