A Post-Medieval copper alloy dress fastener, probably dating to c. AD 1550-1700. The fastener consists of an oval plate with three perforated lugs for attachment, two at its base, flanking an integral sub-rectangular attachement loop and one at the opposite end, expanding from a slightly flanged collar. Expanding from the centre of either side is a bifurcating scrolled knop. The front of the plate is decorated, all cast in low relief, with a central oval field containing a scrolled motif potentially incorperating a central en face mask. This is defined by a solid oval border, with a second running araounf the edge of the plate. The space between the two borders is filled with a corded band.

Similar artefacts can be seen published by Read (2008: 175, no. 663), which he classifies as his Class A, type 8, and suggests an early Post-medieval date range.
