An incomplete copper-alloy Post-Medieval to modern medallion of St. Francis Xavier and St. Ignatius, dating to c. AD 1600 - 1800. It is flat and oval in plan with a small protrusion where an integral suspension loop has been lost. One of the faces depicts Saint Francis Xavier, co-founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), with his arms crossed and holding flowers; he is haloed and there are rays of sunshine to the left of his head. The legend reads FRANC.XAV.[S]OC.IES. The other face of the medallion depicts Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), holding a book with a sun above him. The legend reads S.IGN.DE.LO.SOC.IES. The medallion has four cracks caused by distortion in the ploughsoil and the edges have been abraded. It is brown in colour and has a light green patina where it has sustained damage.
