A cast copper-alloy dress fastener of Post-Medieval date (c. AD 1550 - 1700). The fastener is sub-oval in plan and has an integral rectangular loop. At the end opposite the loop, and also at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock to the attachment loop, there is a small integral perforated knop. Each perforation, used for sewing attachment is circular and has a diameter of about 1.66 - 2.84mm. The upper and rear surfaces are not visibly decorated witht he exception of a raised rib below the attachment loop and the surface has been tinned. The fastener has been heavily abraded, with the abrasions orange in colour.

Similar examples can be seen in Read (2008; p. 170), who classifies this type of fastener as Class A Type 2. Other examples on this database are from the Isle of Wight (IOW-58C83F) and East Riding of Yorkshire (LVPL-9D474B).

It measures 39.49mm in length, 29.62mm in width, 9.87mm internal length, 5.06mm internal width for the attachment hook, and 1.69mm thick and weighs 5.7grams.
