Unique ID: PUBLIC-04DC0B

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A broken piece of a cast copper alloy socketed axe dating from the Late Bronze Age c.1000-800 BC. Probably South Eastern Type.

The remaining body shows a light green patchy patina and is sub-rectangular in plan. It displays casting seams indicating a two piece mould. The top of the socket rim is lipped and the securing loop survives although now closed through corrosion. General thickness varies between 2.0 and 2.2 mm.
