Description: Late Iron Age. fired clay, unidentified object type, corner or base of something. Occcasional quartz, occasional metamorphic rock, Sparse mica. Reduced.

Fabric: Reduced. Banded. Black core. Red/orange exterior. Hard.

Inclusions: Occcasional quartz (<1 mm), occasional metamorphic rock (< 1mm), Sparse mica (< 1mm). Well sorted.

Forming: hand made. Decoration:none. Surface treatment: none. Condition: Abraded.

Form: uncertain

Fragment: uncertain. Probable base or corner

Notes: Height: 23.3 mm. Width: 35.1 mm. Thickness: 29.7 mm. Mass: 15.0 g.

Fired clay was used to create many different types of object during the Late Iron Age. It is possible that this fragment could be part of a circular oven plate or possibly a triangular loom weight. From the size and shape of the fragment, it is hard to be certain of the original form.
