An incomplete cast copper-alloy Colchester derivative, double pierced lug, Harlow type brooch dating to the Roman period, c. 43-100 AD. It has a winged head, with a perforated double-lug at its midpoint. The bow is 'D' shaped in section, demonstrating a prominent central ridge that runs continuously from the head to foot. From the rear of the bow at its lower bow. There is, a sub-rectangular projecting catchplate with a rolled back edge projects. Preserved in fair condition with an even green patina, it measures 35.25mm long, 20.22mm wide at its head, and 2.57mm thick at the midpoint of the bow. It weighs 5.21g.
For a broadly similar broch, see Mackreth (2011), vol. II, pl. 32, no. 11498- though this example does not have an openwork catchplate and is somewhat smaller.
