A fragment of a copper alloy Vessel of Medieval to Post-Medieval date (AD 1200-1700). The fragment is sub-rectangular in shape and is part of the body of the vessel. The exterior surface has well-defined circumferential grooves. The shallow curvature suggests a wide vessel,
Cast copper-alloy vessels were in common usage c 1200 - 1700 AD, becoming superseded in the 18th century by cast-iron vessels.
The metal is a dark green/grey in colour with both surfaces containing repeated incised scratches. The patina is predominantly smooth.
