A small ceramic assemblage consisting 14 sherds of Medieval (c. 1150-1500) and 1 sherd of Post-Medieval (c. 1550-1650) pottery. The Medieval element consists 9 sherds of coarseware (8 body, 1 rim) ranging in colour from a light reddish orange to greyish black, all heavily sand tempered. One sherd demonstrates applied decoration in the form of clay knobs which have then been impressed with the fingertips, but otherwise no other decorated coarseware sherds are present. The single rim sherd seems to represent a large cooking vessel, demonstrating a flat-topped rim and prominent rilling marks on its interior surface. In addition to these, there are also five body sherds (one showing an attachment point for a handle) of later Medieval transitional glazed wares, with fabric colour ranging from bright orange to buff, all with varying levels of glazing still intact on their outer faces, the latter being mainly dark or yellowish green in colour. The single sherd of Post-Medieval pottery consists a body sherd of brownish orange salt-glazed German stoneware (jug?), with a greyish inner fabric and prominent rilling marks on its interior surface, possibly Frechen ware dating c. 1550-1650.
The whole assemblage is preserved in fresh copndition, with only a few of the glazed pieces demonstrating abrasion. Combined weight: 134.19g.
