The soldino was known as the galyhalpens (galley-halfpence) as it was brought by the annual Venetian trading fleets. The soldino was about the size of English halfpennies and was popular because of a contemporary lack of small change: soldini in fact occur as English finds more often than proper halfpennies of the period. The Doge is Michael Steno and dates to the early 15th century.2017-07-19 21:34:282017-07-27 12:29:27412017-01-042017-04-271Certain112929PAS596FC2540016BF22242WAWSilver11728Struck or hammeredCompleteFairMEDIEVALMDx14221p0gjgrsxwzxMEDIEVALMDx14221p0gjgrsxwzxMetal detectorCircaCirca85754183288716857141421SP3824SP3824SP32SE51.91324102-1.44896081101415991A doge standing facing left, holding a sceptre.
