An incomplete copper-alloy strap fitting of Post-Medieval date, c. AD 1500 - 1700. The strap fitting is sub-triangular with a bifurcated terminal to one end and a hook extending from a projecting collar at the other, narrower end. The hook proper has been lost to a worn break. Two parallel rivet holes are present placed centrally on the vertical axis, one of which retains the rivet. The reverse is flat and undecorated.
The metal has a dark green, delaminated patina and is worn. The fitting is 27.7mm long, 11.9mm wide, 2.5mm thick and weighs 1.9g.
Such objects may be related to sword belt sets of 16th - 17th century date. Similar examples have been recorded as YORYM-0E3CA7, BUC-2C3574, IOW-F7ED27 and WMID-08DDF9.
