A sherd from a probable early medieval (EMW) or medieval coarseware (MCW) vessel. The sherd comes from the wall of the vessel and is undiagnostic in shape. The fabric is hard and coarse and is tempered with plentiful rounded quartz sand, some translucent and some white in colour (<1mm). The core is buff coloured, the inner surface slightly oxidised and the outer surface greyish. It is heavily abraded.
