A fragment of lead which could be part of the rim of a vessel or a lead off-cut from a larger object. The specific date is unknown but can be broadly dated to the Early Medieval to Post Medieval periods (c. AD 720-1700). The fragment is sub-triangular in shape: one edge is rounded like the rim of a vessel and the other two edges are flat as if they have been cut. At either end of the rounded edge the pointed ends flick outwards in opposite directions to form slight curves in the form of the fragment, again as if they have been cut. There are five stress lines in the metal on one sidfe of the fragment and one on the reverse. No parallels have been identified as yet on the PAS database.
The overall dimensions are as follows: 27.57mm in length, 7.54mm in width, 5.84mm in thickness and 4.41g in weight.
