An early-medieval silver sceat of Series X (type 31), dating to AD 710-760 (or later). Probably minted at Ribe (Denmark) as opposed to an English imitation although the reverse beast lacks the usually seen drooping crest behind the head. Ref: Metcalf 1993: 279-80.

Reference: Abramson X120 (obverse), to the reverse the tail is not forked, has a single pellet below the head and a single pellet before it.
