A clipped silver halfpenny of Henry VI, first reign AD 1422-1461. Calais mint, annulet issue.

Obverse legend reads: + hEN[...]GL'. Obverse shows a forward facing crowned bust, single annulet at each shoulder. Reverse legend reads: VIL/L[A..]/CAL/IS(saltire stop). Reverse shows a solid long cross with three pellets per quarter, two opposing quarters have a single annulet at the centre of the three pellets ('VIL' & 'CAL' quarters).

Die axis is 9 o'clock.
