A fragment of a copper alloy Brooch of Roman date (AD 43-150). The object is the lower portion of a Trumpet Derivative brooch. The retained portion consists of the rectangular expanded body below which is a rectangular section which then flares out into a triangular foot, part of which is missing. The wings, head, spring, pin, catchplate and partial foot are all missing due to old and abraded breaks. The front face of the object is decorated with a moulded pattern. The rectangular section of body contains four longitudinally running rectangular cells. The foot is decorated with a triangular border, within which is a raised, central triangle motif.
The metal is a dark green in colour with areas of light green corrosion and a heavily pitted patina.
