Late Medieval or Early Post Medieval silver gilt finger ring, 24mm in diameter, 7mm wide and 1.5mm thick with a weight of 5.61grams.
The finger ring is formed of a flat band with a rectangular cross section and it has a gap in its loop, probably where the solder has failed. It is decorated on the outside with a raised border. Inside this are two zig-zag incised lines which form a series of central 'diamond' cells flanked by triangular ones filling the rest of the field. Each 'diamond' shaped cell has 11 or 12 sub spherical projections tighlty packed and each triangular cell has one similar centrally placed projection.
Beverly Nenk has confirmed it has a 15th or 16th C date.
