Lead alloy piece of uncertain use modelled on a die stamp for a livery button of probably 19th cnetury date. The piece is circular with a shaped front, rough sides and smoothed back where the metal has cooled with a slightly concave centre. There is a square piercing through it at 12 o'clock near the rim. The front is concave from the rim with a raised circle with slightly rounded edges 22.4 mm in diameter taking up the centre. The raised circle has a slightly convex top and a raised design on it of a shield of English (Tudor arch) shape bearing four fusils in fess above the shield is a torse with an unclear winged design or animal above as a crest, possible a dragon or bat or winged hourglass shown displayed. The piece is 37.5mm in diameter, 9.6mm thick and 77.66 grams.

The form is identical to that of a die stamp used to create livery buttons but these are made in iron / steel to withstand use in a press. They were also usually held by the manufacturer for repeat orders. It is possible is was made by pressing such a stamp or indeed a livery button into wet clay and casting this piece from the mould. perhaps as a test or a way to create local copies. The arms of four fusils in fess are borne by serveral families across Devon and Somerset.
