A Post Medieval copper alloy double-looped buckle dating to the 17th century. The buckle frame has two trapezoidal loops and is rectangular in cross section. There is a triangular projection at the centre of the outside edge of both loops and there is a ropunded projection on each of the four corners. On the front of the outside edge there is an incised line running from top to bottom across the knops and point, and a central incised pin rest perpendicular to this. The centre bar is narrowed from the frame, has a trapezoidal cross section and is flanked by a pair of moulded knops. The pin is missing.
The buckle measures 39.62 mm in length, 25.20 mm in width and 2.09 mm thick, it weighs 6.27 g.
Whitehead, R 1996 Buckles 1250 to 1800, page 83, nos. 520, 522 are similar examples which are dated to c. 1620-1680,
