A complete post-Medieval lead alloy Dorset alnage cloth seal, probably issued during the reign of James I (1603-1625).
This cloth seal is a four part type:
Blank // [DO]RSE[T]// crowned thistle I R to sides // D in beaded inner border, [SEA]RCH[ED] around.
The cloth seal has a buff patina.
Length: 27.0mm; width: 12.4mm; thickness: 3.8mm. Weight: 4.89g.
