A copper alloy rowel from a spur of Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The rowel is in the form of a six pointed star and has a central circular perforation for attachment to the spur. The perforation has an internal diameter of 2.5mm. Only one of the points of the rowel is complete the others having sustained either ancient or more recent damage. The object has a mid-green patina.
Such rowels are undiagnostic and a wide medieval to post-medieval date is therefore offered; similar examples can be found illustrated in Read (2001, 66; refs. 505-507).
